The Savior Jesus Christ, according to Christian doctrine, died to save the world from sin and death. The baseline of what separates Christianity from other religions is the celebration of Easter—God Himself erases the debt of those who believe in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. Christians profess this to the world. Yet even Christians need a reminder of all Jesus endured for the world’s sake. From His arrest to His death, Jesus suffered every category of evil.
Kentucky and El Paso: two places with very tangible needs for people to address. Kentucky is recovering from a recent flood, while El Paso is flooded with people in need. John Brown University students served in both places over spring break. Diego Flores, sophomore criminal justice major at JBU, served in El Paso. This spring break mission trip was Flores’ premier experience in the mission field.
They took away every piano they could. I was left with next to nothing. I was desperate and hurt. So, I resolved to look for a way to play inconspicuously and freely, even if it meant stealing away into the underbelly of the Cathedral after the Gathering.
That is what John Brown University’s production of “Babette’s Feast” offered audiences last Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 17 – 19. The performances of “Babette’s Feast” showcased a stunning display of talent and genius, directed by JBU’s associate professor of speech and theatre, Josiah Wallace.
Persecution, prayer, praise, promises—these four elements are the core of Secret Church. Many people at John Brown University have heard the phrase “Secret Church,” but few have understood what it is and why it is a secret if it is advertised to everyone on campus. Secret Church, presented to JBU students via Student Leadership Ministries Team (SMLT), is an opportunity to join the global Church in a fourth-of-a-day journey of intense scriptural study.
