Celebrating Through Adversity: Injured JBU Soccer Seniors Find Joy in Bittersweet Senior Nights

The John Brown University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams honored their senior players on Senior Night, where the athletes walked alongside their families and were celebrated by their teammates and a supportive crowd. The event, which took place on Oct. 17 for the men’s team and Oct. 21, for the women’s, was sentimental for several of the seniors that had to say goodbye to their teammates and the field where they played for many years. But for a few of them, the celebration also felt bittersweet as they reflected on the injuries that accompanied them and prevented them from playing their last season.

No empty seats: JBU Toilet Paper Game celebrates its 40th anniversary

On Friday, Oct. 27, at Bill George Arena, the men’s Basketball team of John Brown University defeated Barclay College Bears during the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Toilet Paper Game. The game displayed incredible talent, persistent dedication, and a demonstration of teamwork that perfectly captured the spirit of basketball, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

Student Profile: Payton Guiot

In his position as a guard for John Brown University’s men’s basketball team, senior Payton Guiot accomplished multiple victories in his athletic career, including earning the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award last year. Payton shared with the Threefold his experience with the JBU basketball team and his appreciation for the support he has from his family and partner in his athletic career.

Profile: Maddie Altman, graduate basketball star

Maddie Altman, graduate student, grad assistant and guard basketball player, has demonstrated her talents and skills on and off the John Brown University basketball team. From Denver, Colorado, Altman was able to complete four majors while scoring points in the JBU team these past few years. Playing basketball has been a big part of her life and she has undoubtedly demonstrated her commitment to both her academic life and her athletic life.

JBU Volleyball is NAIA Tournament Bound for First Time in History, Faces Tough Test in Bellevue

Business is booming in Siloam Springs for volleyball, as the John Brown Golden Eagles have been selected as one of the teams participating in the NAIA Tournament for the first time in program history. This historic moment serves, up to this point in the season, as the highlight of a 2022 run that has taken the program to new heights. Under the leadership of head coach Ken Carver, in his ninth season, the Golden Eagles finished 22-9 overall, with a 14-6 record in conference play during the regular season. This total includes wins over multiple ranked opponents and a 10-2 record inside Bill George Arena, their best home record since 2019.

Women’s soccer takes second place in route to postseason play for the SAC Tournament quarterfinals

The JBU women’s soccer team finished conference play with a 5-win streak, facing only one loss on the season against first-seeded Science and Arts. The Golden Eagles ensure the No. 2 seed into the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, earning home field advantage at least through the semifinal round. The Tournament quarterfinals begin on Nov. 4 when the Golden Eagles welcome seventh-seeded Southwestern Christian to Alumni Field.

JBU Basketball Returns With Winning Efforts on TP Game Night

Basketball has officially made its return to the campus of John Brown University on Friday, Oct. 28, when both the men’s and women’s basketball teams opened their season inside Bill George Arena in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. For a second straight season, the JBU women opened their season against Ozark Christian College, while the JBU men opened theirs against Barclay College.
