Golden Eagles face Oklahoma Christian University

The Golden Eagles face Oklahoma Christian University tonight at 8 p.m. on the road before coming back to the Bill George Arena to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday night.

Last week’s games helped the Golden Eagles move to third in the conference with a record of 19-5, 11-5 in conference.

Their first win was against Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) with a final score of 81-76.

Before this win JBU was fifth in the conference and SNU was second. After the game, both teams were tied with Rogers State for the second place in the SAC.

While another win against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma sealed JBU’s position within the top three in the SAC, it could not secure JBU the second seed.

The Eagles hope to continue their climb up the SAC rankings this weekend, starting with tonight’s game against Oklahoma Christian.
OC is currently fifth in conference and have a season record of 15-8, 9-7 in the SAC and are coming off a 89-74 win against Lubbock Christian (Texas) last Saturday.

Junior center Will Reinke is their leading scorer and rebounder with 16.7 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.

Sophomore guard Kendre Talley is their second leading scorer with 11 points per game and junior guard Devan White is the second leading rebounder with 6 rebounds per game.

Talley also leads the SAC in steals with 2.7 per game while his teammate Reinke leads the conference in blocks with 2.3.

As a team, OC averages 76 points per game while holding their opponents at 66.

After taking on OC, the Golden Eagles will return home to face seventh-seed NOSU on Saturday.

NOSU has a season record of 11-12, 8-8 in the SAC. Their last game resulted in a 87-83 win against Wayland Baptist (Texas).

Junior forward Jonathan Freemyer is NOSU’s leading scorer with 14 points per game, followed by junior guard Michael Bell with 13.5.

Their leading rebounder is Thiago Guilherme with 6.4 rebounds per game followed by senior forward Jeremy Felton with 5.9.

As a team, NOSU averages 76.7 points per game while holding their opponents at an average of 76 points.

The Golden Eagles will face NOSU on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Bill George Arena.
