The Eagles last regular season tournament is April 9-10 at the Southwestern Christian Tournament in Oklahoma City.

The Eagles finished 5th out of 13 teams at the Swede Invitational in Salina, KS on March 5-6 and 3rd out of 7 teams at the Central Baptist Invitational in Little Rock March 26-27.

JBU was lead by senior West Loveland, who scored a 10 over 81 in Round 1 and a 6 over 77 in Round 2 for a final score of 158.

That was good enough for a team-best 15th place finish,18 strokes back of the lead.

Also in the top 20 for the Eagles were senior Matt Brooker in 18th with a 160 and junior Cameron Lindsey in a tie for 19th with a 161.

In the Central Baptist Invitational JBU finished 3rd behind only the host and Central College thanks to a first place finish by West Loveland.

The Golden Eagles’ 639 was 36 strokes behind Central Baptist’s. Loveland came out of round 1 with a score of 69 and tie for first.

After edging out Central Baptist’s Justin Burns by one stroke in Round 2 with a 72, Justin ended up in sole possession of first at the end of the tournament.

After their third spring tournament was shortened by rain Tuesday, JBU finished in fifth place after only one round of golf.

West Loveland missed out on winning his second straight tournament after the second round was claimed by weather.

Loveland finished round 1 one stroke back of the lead with a 74 in a three-way tie for second and finished there when round 2 was rained out.

The golf team will look to get on even bigger roll going into the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament April 23-24, where they will have to contend with perennial heavyweights Oklahoma Christian and Oklahoma City (No. 1 and No. 2 in the NAIA poll, respectively).

The conference tournament will represent the last and best chance for unranked JBU to improve its national ranking.

The SAC has four other teams in the NAIA Top 25, making the conference tournament both a daunting challenge and a golden opportunity for JBU men’s golf.
