Women’s basketball sweeps SGU

The Lady Eagles faced St. Gregorys on Tuesday in Bill George Arena. JBU won the match 60-45.

The game stayed at a 0-0 standstill up until the 17 minute mark when No. 35 Kami Garrison made the first JBU basket.

With a three-point basket by No. 22 Sierrra Shipley at the 15-minute mark, the Lady Eagles were ahead 7-2.

JBU kept St. Gregorys behind by no less than five points for the remainder of the game.

By the end of the first half, the score was 29-10, JBU with a strong lead.

The Lady Eagles continued to keep a stiff arm on SGU , setting the score 31-15 at the 17-minute mark after No. 21 Kortni Barenberg scored.

Shipley, who recently obtained her 1,000th collegiate point, made another three-point basket with 13 minutes left in the game, giving the Golden Eagles a solid 21-point lead over SGU.

With every SGU basket, the Lady Eagles returned the favor.

The final basket was shot by No. 2 Morgan Ankrom with 26 seconds left in the game.

The women will face Wayland Baptist tonight at 6 p.m. in Bill George Arena.
