The Lady Golden Eagles Soccer team rolled to an 8-0 victory over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.

Junior midfielder Whitney Brannan led the Eagles to their third straight win with a hat trick and sophomore forward Laura Garcia added two goals of her own.

Playing an 0-4 U of O team, Brennan saw the game as an opportunity for the Lady Eagles to prepare for their upcoming games.

“We’ve been playing really well as a team lately,” said Brannan. “Today it was fun to just get out there and tune up our play in preparation for the games coming up next weekend.”

Sophomore midfielder Casey O’Brien opened the scoring in the 4th minute and Brannan followed with her first two goals in the 6th and 11th minutes.

After a 19th minute goal by sophomore midfielder Madi Susmilch, Brannan capped her hat trick by scoring off a penalty kick in the 37th minute that sent the Lady Eagles into halftime up 5-0.

Garcia scored her two goals in the second half and freshman forward Alex Fahr added what Head Coach Scott Marksberry called the ‘goal of the game,’ her first goal of the season, in the 82nd minute.

It wasn’t only the offense that excelled on Saturday.

The Eagles’ defense only allowed one shot all game en route to their third straight shutout.

The Lady Eagles will look to continue their winning streak this weekend at the John Brown Invitational.

JBU will host Bacone (0-3) Friday at 4 p.m. and MidAmerica (0-4) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
