Late Skate on Ice Transforms the Rink into a Disney Wonderland

On Jan. 31, the Student Events Association from John Brown University hosted Late Skate on Ice at the Jones Center in Springdale, Ark. From 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., students put on their skates and glided into a night of magic, dressed as their favorite Disney characters. The event was filled with laughter, creativity and plenty of unforgettable moments on the ice.

The Jones Center rink was alive with students skating to a mix of Disney classics and popular hits while dressed as beloved characters from films like Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, and Frozen. Some of the most popular costumes included Ratatouille, Tinker Bell and characters from Gravity Falls.

“I think Late Skate is such a great tradition here at JBU. I love it when people fully embrace the theme—the costumes are always so creative and impressive,” JBU student Emma Jit, said.

“I find Late Skate to be a lot of fun, and I have enjoyed it every time. It's also a great way to meet new people since there is usually a lot of falling and crashing into each other. I think this year's Late Skate was another success, thanks to SEA!”

For only $1, Student Events and Activities made the event affordable and accessible to all students, providing a unique opportunity for the JBU community to come together and share in the fun. Skaters showcased their Disney-inspired outfits while enjoying the atmosphere and capturing group photos.

Abigail Paredes, another participant, shared her enthusiasm for the event. “I dressed up as Sally from Cars, and my boyfriend was Lightning McQueen. We had such a blast!” she said.

She continued, “It was hilarious trying to skate while wearing hats, but that just made it even more fun. It was definitely a night to remember.”

As students left the rink, many were already talking about the fun moments and laughter shared throughout the night. The event provided not just entertainment but also an opportunity for students to connect with one another.
