The John Brown University women’s tennis team fell 8-1 against Oklahoma Baptist on April 1.

Freshmen Amanda Wilkerson and Taylor Russell partnered for a win at no. 2 doubles, but the Golden Eagles fell to the Lady Bison overall.

In the next match against Southwestern, JBU was victorious with an 8-1 victory. Another freshmen duo, Kaela Doyle and Jessie Alexander, earned their first victory as a pair, finishing their double 8-5.

Freshman Kristie Lotz and sophomore Krizana Saucedo also partnered for an 8-5 win in the match.

In a recap of the matches written by director of sports information Nicholas Robinson, head coach Paul Pautsch commented on the performance of Wilkerson and Russell.

“The ladies even received compliments from opposing coaches which is always a neat thing,” Pautsch said. “They played lights out today.”

The women’s team is currently 2-5 overall.

They will travel to Kansas tomorrow to face Central Christian, then will face Baker University on Saturday.
