Chip on a trip

During spring break, students take a break from their academic responsibilities often to rest at home or travel to new places. John Brown University took this opportunity to create a fun and interactive contest called “Chip on a trip.” The contest encouraged University students, faculty and staff to document their spring break adventures with selfies featuring Chip, nickname of Dr. Charles Pollard, President of the University since 2004. In this contest, participants had the chance to win a $75 Visa gift card in three different categories – Chip’s Pick, Furthest Distance and Fan Favorite.

Mariachi strikes again JBU International Food Festival

On Thursday, Feb. 23, The International Food Festival took place on John Brown University’s campus. It was a tremendous success, bringing together students from 12 different countries to showcase their culinary traditions. The festival was a fantastic opportunity for international students to share their cultural heritage with the local community and University students. The atmosphere was busy, with mariachi music adding to the festive atmosphere.

Shining the Light: A Recap of Night to Shine at CCF Siloam Springs

Night to Shine, a prom night for people with special needs and disabilities, was held Friday, Feb. 10, at the Community Christian Fellowship (CCF) in Siloam Springs. The Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors this event across the country. Siloam Springs had the support of many volunteers from John Brown University and CCF members.

Murder on the Orient Express: JBU Students encourage others to partake in Theatre

JBU theatre presented its production of “Murder on the Orient Express,” written by Agatha Christie and adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig. Performances took place Friday, Sep. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Berry Performing Arts Center. The performance showcased the talents of the student actors and the university staff involved. Josiah Wallace, the university’s associate professor of speech and theatre, directed the play.

Homegrown festival supports Siloam Springs’ local business

The Siloam Spring’s community members and local vendors gathered for the Homegrown Festival in Downtown Siloam Springs this past Saturday, Oct. 8. The festival opened the fall season with live music, food trucks, and pumpkins. Homegrown is one of the many events Main Street Siloam  organizes to support local small businesses in the downtown area. There were local artists, handmade crafts and curated and refurbished vintage clothes booths.

Students Experience Spiritual Renewal at SMLT’s Annual Breakaway Retreat

This past weekend, 200 students attended the annual SMLT Breakaway retreat at New Life Ranch. Breakaway is a spiritual fall retreat that has been a tradition for JBU students. It is a time for students to get away from campus, classes and routine, and seek spiritual rest. JBU students arrived on Friday night, and enjoyed community before the first worship service.
